Tim Russert, the role mode of many, died on friday, June 13. Tim is the most trusted and powerful name in American political ournalism. A role model and hero to me will be missed greatly. It is such a loss for journalism, and such a sad day for the world.

Tim Russert was the Managing Editor and Moderator of “Meet the Press” and political analyst for “NBC Nightly News” and the “TODAY” program.  He anchored “The Tim Russert Show,” a weekly interview program on MSNBC. Russert also served as senior vice president and Washington bureau chief of NBC News.

It is a sad day for the world, and end of a great political career. We may not like her political views, or her term as a Prime minister but she was brave and believed in democracy.

Bangladesh celebrates 16th december, the Victory Day, with sadness and joy. The Pakistani Army brutality ended by their defeat in 16th december 1971, and born a new country Bangladesh. It has been 36 years but many of our dreams are not even close to fulfil. deshiBlog is hopeful that Bangladesh will achive those dreams, and our people will live a better life. At the same time we voice to the world to make Pakistan pay for their brutality against humanity. 

Muttia Muralidharan reaches the highest number of test wickets 710 today, and we congratulate him for the achievement. Its a great day for Cricket, and Murali pays for the Srilankan cricket team. He wishes to achive 1000 wickets in test and annouced to play for the next cricket world cup in 2011. We, Bangladesh Blog, will be watching and wish for the best.

Today milions of muslims around the world celebrating the EID after the sacrifice and prayer in the month of Ramadan. Eid Mubarak to all the muslim brothers and sisters. It  is one of the biggest celebration of muslim world but its sad that we still devided to make the decision of Eid day.

Unfortunately, we see muslims in America celebrating the Eid in two different days and blaming each other. How hard it is to come up with a unified decision and celebrate the day all together, pray all together, and wish good thing for everybody. I am not an Islamic scholar and not even close it, but it would be great to see people in the leadership try to unify the process of selecting the day.

Al Gore, lost to President Bush in 2000, devoted himself to his passion as an environmental advocate won the peace prize in 2007.

Prothom-Alo, one of the most published Daily Newspaper in Bangladesh, is facing a tough time as thousands of muslim rally to ban the newspaper. The incident started when Prothom-Alo published a Cartoon which demean the Prophet Muhammad (SM). Many Islamic parties are asking for the banned, and deshiBLOG greatly against this type of violent uprise. We strongly believe that Prothom-Alo should not published the cartoon to demean the great Prophet, but accept the apology from the News Paper and the Editor. Prothom-alo always saying they are respectful to Islam and any religion and regreated the incident as the Editor Matitur Rahman went to the National Mosque Baitul Mukkarram and expressed his great sorrow and ask for forgiveness.

Prothom-Alo being a leader of Bangladeshi News Paper, and have doing many great thing for the country. They are one of the best news paper for Islamic articles as well. Many of the Islamic radical Parties are trying to harm Prothom-Alo for a long time because of the powerful news it pulishes. The Editor been awarded internationaly, and domesticaly. Their unbiased news helps millions of Bangladeshi around the world to understand and picture the situation in Bangladesh. We, deshi BLOG, wants this types of intentional and planned violence to stopand condemned those parties. Bangladeshi people are with prothom-alo, one mistake should be forgiven and we hope the situation improves soon.

Allen Greenspan, the Chairman of US Federal Reserve bank, said the war on Iraq is about oil. The long served Fed Chairman who shaped last 20 years of american economy said those word straight. In the interview he criticizes and express his frustration on President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheny’s economic policy, and the Republican Senate. The lifelong republican supported the war, because Saddam hossain would disrupt the oil supply. The world knows its all about oil, but this is the first time someone so respectable, and most trusted in USA said the real thing.
Majority of American are against the war from the begining and they voiced against it. The haunted question is, If its all about oil then are those american brave soldier died in vain?

Today milions of muslim around the around the world start fasting as the tradition of Ramadan. This is the month of sacrifice, and muslims refrain from anger, envy, greed, lust, backbiting, and gossip. In this month, muslims practice the religion more, and pray to Allah for forgivness. This is the month when Holy Qura’n was revealed.

Bangladeshi muslims will enjoy the Iftar after all day of fasting. We hope the price of Kitchen Market will be in control, and the government plan would be executed. Every year, In this month there is a price hike and poor muslims get hard time to buy the iftar items. The caretaker government is trying to keep the price low, but that is not enough. We hope this year would be different.

Bangladesh team crash West Indies in the 20-20 world cup series, and played an excellent agressive match. We beat another former World Cup champion with a shiny performance by Ashraful, the  Bangladesh National Cricket team captain. At the end of the day Ashraful has a world record of 50 runs in 20 balls. Ashraful showed one more time that when he shines Bangladesh Cricket wins. Aftab also played a great cricket with 62 total to Bangladesh Win. 

Bangladesh road accidents is one of the top listed reason to cause human death. Every year thousands of people are killed including women, and children on the street. I dont know if there is any research about the reason behind the accidents, but it is sure that the drivers stupidity are the top reason. Bangladesh Drivers are not properly licensed, and the government has no monitoring. Does anybody look at the driving records? I believe the govt should take initiative, and there should be awarenes activities from the general public.

Todays newspapers reports that 12 people were killed at Bogra, Bangladesh on road accident. Is there any organization counts how many life we are loosing each year, and what are the actions we may take. Lets make a movement, and lets have some actions taken against road accident, and make the street safer for our people.

Gen. Petraeus, the top American military commander in Iraq told Congress this afternoon that the United States by next summer should be able to reduce its troop strength there to about 130,000, or what it was before the recent increase.  Critics are call his testimony not socking as his voice sounds someone from the Whitehouse. Right now, the four star general would be the best friend of President bush, his troop reduction strategy is not a plan but the reality. As America fails politicaly in Iraq, and very little success militarily.

MoveOn.org published a news paper ad cost $70k on the worlds best News Paper New York Times calling Mr Petraeus or Mr Betray Us. We believe the General is not giving the right facts, but defending the republicans. While our troops are dying in IRAQ, we see the Iraqi government officials were in vacation. The urgency of the Shia led government to the country’s stability is sad, and America sould come back. This war is president bush’s war, and the young men and women are paying the price. deshiBLOG calls for troop withdrwal from Iraq within this year. 

The caretaker government opens the doors of domestic politics, and it is a milestone of 2008 election. From the news, it seems the country is getting back to the political flow and all the party’s office opens except BNP after six months of frustration. It would be interesting watch next few months to see how the caretaker govt cope with the politics. I personaly believe the current government would have difficulties to deal with the politics specialy for their lack of expertise. The Military should stay on the safe side, and the talkaitive adviser Mainul Hossain better keep his mouth shut. Lets give the party’s enough time to choose leadership, and comeup with a direction.

Its clear that Bangladesh Nationalist Party is in great trouble, and it may get worse. The people behind Khaleda Zia would be in difficualt situation as the family of Khaleda Zia is in Jail. This is also a decision time for Bangladeshi to decide whether Family politics or democratic politics waht they expect. It would be sad to see the nation stand behind the family stole and destroyed billions of our money.

This is a wake up call for our nation against corruption.
